Ricks Garage Dinner

Ricks Garage was originally a petrol station and workshop and over the years was transformed into one of the most popular restaurant destinations on the Sunshine Coast.
Known for its retro diner, burgers, great service station and live music, pretty much any day is a good day to visit Ricks. All ingredients are sourced locally and made in-house by the kitchen staff. Food is quick, service is tops, and the craft beer on tap is cold and refreshing.
Don’t forget to check out the recent additions to this expanding empire, with the Whiskey Bar upstairs and the Bakehouse servicing delicious coffee and baked goods next door. Friday nights dress up for rockabilly and live music. And on the weekends expect to be swamped by hot classical cars and bikes and car clubs from all over make it a point to visit Ricks on their way through.

Local Parks and Walking Tracks

There are several local parks and walking tracks around Palmwoods Township. Probably one of the most popular hangouts is Kolora Park also known by locals as the Palmwoods Duck Pond. There is a short walk around the pond which forms part of the historic Buderim Palmwoods Heritage Tramway Walk. In town, you will enjoy the Piccabeen Green a newly established space next to the Town Hall where you can sit and enjoy a coffee from one of the nearby cafes. Heading towards Montville there is Federation Park. Here there is a bunch of activities for all ages. Paynter Creek boards the park and is a great habitat for a variety of trees and animals. There are also BBQ facilities, a children’s play area, a dog park, a fitness circuit, and wide-open green spaces to kick around a ball. Scattered throughout the town there are many other pathways that can have you circuit the entire area of Palmwoods within an hour. There are many smaller parks some of which feature ponds, basketball half-court, and children’s play areas.

Palmwoods Bowls Club

Established in 1931, this historic club is in an ideal location surrounded by beautiful rainforests and a delightful duck pond. See if you can spot the platypus. The club offers a courtesy coach for local bowlers and those looking for a bit of a night out. It also has many cars spacious for those visiting from out of town and is within walking distance from the train station. The club caters for a variety of events and can be hired for private functions. Whether you’re looking to have some competitive or social bowling, a drink at the bar with reasonable club prices, or a nice meal at Sushi Ari, the club has you covered. The club restaurant and dining areas are currently transitioning through a full renovation.
